Westfield, MA- MCLA senior Reese Dwyer fired a one over par round of 72 to claim a two shot victory in today's Brett Williamson Invitational at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield.  The win marks the first for Dwyer in a Trailblazer uniform.  Westfield State, the tournament hosts, claimed the team title with a combined score of 302.  MCLA finished in 7th place overall.

Dwyer began his round on the ninth hole in the shotgun start.  After an early bogey on the tenth hole, he would collect his first birdie of the round on the par five 14th hole to get back to even par.  He would bogey the 16th and 17th holes to make the turn in two over 37.

Dwyer then parred the first hole before stuffing his approach on the second to a few feet and converted his second birdie of the round.  Another bogey dropped him to +2, but another birdie on the par five 7th hole put him in position to win.  He would go on to par the final hole of the day, the eighth, to secure his first tournament win.

His final stats included three birdies against four bogeys on the 6,348 yard, par 71 layout.

Nick Bator also had a solid day for MCLA carding a 78.  He was cruising along at the start, but was done in by consecutive double bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes.

The event marked the season debut for MCLA.  It kicks off a busy stretch for the Trailblazers as they will play in the Williams Invitational over the weekend and then host a ten team event on Tuesday at Berkshire Hills.

Also competing this afternoon were Brett Norman and Noah Matrigali.

Full results will be made available later tonight.
