Gover Wins Three Man Playoff, and Trailblazers Take Home Fourth Place at Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational

SUTTON, Mass.—Freshman golfer Mat Gover took home the individual win with a par on the 19th hole of competition this afternoon, while MCLA took fourth place overall in the team competition.

EVENT RESULTS:

  • Winning Team: Nichols College (+24)
  • Winning Individuals: Mat Gover, MCLA (+3, Par on 19th hole)

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • 18 holes weren't enough to settle the individual title with MCLA's Mat Gover, Roger Williams' Trevor Hada, and Rhode Island College's Cameron Mello all shot a three over par 75 to force a three man playoff. Gover was the only one of the three finalist to shoot par to take home the victory.
  • Paul Roeder was the second highest finisher among Trailblazer golfers, tying for 10th place with a six over par 78.
  • Playing in only his second collegiate event, Easton Moore finished tied for 18th place with three other golfers all shooting nine over par 81's.
  • Cody White (+16, 88) and Alex Ferris (+17, 89) rounded out the Trailblazer's quintet of golfers, finishing tied for tied for 31st and 33rd, respectively.
  • As a team, MCLA finished in fourth place 10 shots behind eventual winner Nichols Collge who finished as a +24.
