Golf, Gover go Back-to-Back at MCLA Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.— For the second straight year the MCLA Golf team and Mat Gover walked away victorious at the MCLA Invitational capturing both the team and individual titles. The single-day tournament featured a six-team, thirty-player field and was held at the par 71 Waubeeka Golf Links in neighboring Williamstown.
Gover posted a new career best 4-under 67, including eight birdies, earning the sophomore his first individual title of the season and leading the MCLA A team (317) to the championship. Teammates Cody White (74, +3) and Paul Roeder (83, +12) finished second and fifth place respectively.
In the team competition, Norwich University (334) finished second, Albertus Magnus (342) third, SUNY Poly (358) fourth, Westfield State (366) fifth and MCLA B (395) sixth.
Norwich sophomore Cooper Bertrand and Albertus Magnus senior Charles Kristofak (79, +8) finished tied for third.
The Trailblazers return to Williamstown this weekend as they'll compete in the two-round Williams Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club.
