Golf Competes at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.— The MCLA Golf team faced a challenging Taconic Golf Club course and stiff competition over the weekend in the two-day Williams Invitational hosted by Williams College.
Gustavus Adolphus walked away with the team title with a score of 590 (+22), while Middlebury College (599, +31) finished second and Bowdoin College (605, +37) finished third. MCLA (658, +90) finished in 17th place.
Gustavus Adolphus junior Christopher Gutuza made it a sweep for Golden Gusties claiming medalist honors with his 1-under 141 total besting first round co-leaders Tyler Baker of Endicott and Evan Eichelaub from Babson College (145, +3), who finished tied for second.
Mat Gover led the Trailblazers finishing tied for 44th (155, +13) moving up thirty spots after the first round posting a 3-over 74 which included three birdies on the back nine. Fellow Trailblazers Paul Roeder (163, +21) and Cody White (169, +27) turned in solid performances.
MCLA is back in action Wednesday at the Brett Williamson Invitational hosted by Westfield State at the Tekoa Country Club.
