Gover earns MASCAC Rookie of the Week
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Freshman Goaltender Mathew Gover (Atkinson, NH / East Coast Wizards) has been named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week. Fitchburg State's Alexandre Bauvais (Meudon, France/ HC Rhode Island) and Plymouth State's Kalle Andersson (Taby, Sweden / Islanders Hockey Club (NCDC)) were named the Player of the Week and Goaltender of the Week, respectively.
Gover picks up Goalie of the Week after making 85 saves in his two appearances with a 2.01 GAA and a .955 save percentage in a 1-1 week for the Trailblazers, including a 2-1 victory over Framingham State in which the freshman goalie turned away a career-high 60 shots securing the first conference win of the season for the Trailblazers which was also the first since the program's reinstatement this year. His 60 saves are tied for the third most in Division III this season.
Gover and the Trailblazers are back in action this Thursday when they play host to Worcester State at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink. The puck drops at 7 PM.
