WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Hockey Team returned to the road this evening, traveling to Western New England University for a non-conference matchup with the Golden Bears at the Olympia Ice Center. Mathew Gover recorded 31 saves, but the hosts got goals from Mathew Fortin and Jordie Morgan to send the Trailblazers home disappointed.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • WNEU scored one goal in both the first and second periods. The goals were credited to Mathew Fortin (10:03 of 1st period, assisted by Jimmy Mettler & Jake Mendeszoon), and Jordie Morgan (15:23 of 2nd period, Mendeszoon).
  • For only the second time this season, the Trailblazers outshot an opponent, peppering the Golden Bears' Logan Palmer (1-1-0) with 39 shots, but were unable to solve the netminder who picked up his second career win and first career shutout.
  • Sophomore goalie Mathew Gover (Atkinson, NH / East Coast Wizards) stopped 33 of the 31 shots he faced but still picked up the loss to fall to 0-5-0.
