WORCESTER, Mass. – The MCLA Men's Ice Hockey team returned to the ice following their winter break this evening, traveling to the Worcester Ice Center for a non-conference matchup with the Assumption University Greyhounds. Luke Rhoss and Christopher Gallagher each lit the lamp for the Trailblazers, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Greyhounds' seven goal attack.

HOW IT WENT DOWN

  • MCLA jumped out to an early lead with just over four minutes off the clock in the first period when sophomore forward Luke Rhoss (Monroe, NY / Philadelphia H.C.) scored his second goal of the season, with the assist being credited to sophomore forward Sean Neu (Wake Forest, NC / Protec Jr. Ducks).
  • The Greyhounds responded with a run of four straight goals, including two in the first period from Daniel Lemanski (powerplay, at 12:00, assisted by Ronny Paragallo and Jonathan Surrette) and Braeden McKenzie (13:01, Jake Lavoie and Gavin Dach). Jake Dinapoli (1:17, Ryan Decker and John Woernle) and Leo Piandes (powerplay, 5:08, Paragallo and Lemanski) scored the second-period goals.
  • The Trailblazers cut the lead back to 4-2 when sophomore forward Christopher Gallagher (Albany. NY / Islanders H.C.) scored an unassisted shorthanded goal for his fifth of the season.
  • The period would end with the Assumption up 5-2 when Lemanski (14:15, Paragallo and McKenzie) scored his second goal of the night.
  • The Greyhounds added two more goals in the third period to end the game at 7-2. The goals were credited to Paragallo (13:58, Lemanski and Daniel Chapman) and Nick Fall (16:25, Kyle LoNigro).
  • Assumptions' Michael Hauswirth finished the night with 30 saves on 32 shots to improve his record to 2-3-0. Sophomore goalie Mathew Gover (Atkinson, NH / East Coast Wizards) made 40 saves but fell to 1-9-0.
