Hankel selected as NAC Defensive Player of the Week

North Adams, MA—MCLA's junior goalie John Hankel (Garrison, NY) has been named as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Defensive Player of the Week. Joining Hankel this week as fellow honorees are Husson University's graduate student midfielder Gunner McAllister (Albion, ME) who was selected as NAC Player of the Week and SUNY Canton's first year attackman Michael Newcomb (West Seneca, NY) who took home Rookie of the Week.
Hankel had an outstanding week in net for the Trailblazers. He posted a .745 save percentage while facing 51 shots on cage in a 1-1 overall effort and charted a 6.50 goals against average. Hankel also managed to pick up an additional five grounds balls outside the net.
Hankel and the Trailblazers will return to action this afternoon at 4pm when they visit Salem State University in a nonconference matchup.
