Men's Lacrosse Can't Get Offense Going in Loss at MMA

CASTINE, Maine – The MCLA Lacrosse team continued their North Atlantic Conference schedule this afternoon when they travelled to visit Ritchie Field and the Maine Maritime Academy. It was a rough day for the Traiblazers, while the Mariners' Tobey Lappin had a day, scoring eight goals to lead the hosts to a win.

  • Records: MCLA Trailblazers 1-8 (NAC 0-3) | Maine Maritime Academy Mariners 6-5 (NAC 3-0)
  • Series History: MMA leads the all-time series 4-0, including a 29-5 win in the last meeting on March 30, 2024, in Castine. MMA also took the first-ever meeting of the teams 22-10 on March 19, 2022 in Castine.

  • Maine Maritime Highlights
    • Senior Brendan Reddington led three MMA players in double-digits with a career- and game-high 13 points, including a school-record 11 assists. He also scooped up eight ground balls.
    • Freshman Tobey Lappin pumped in a game-best eight goals (10 points) and he had four ground balls.
    • Junior Trey Marcil tallied four goals, seven assists and 11 points for career highs in the latter two categories. He also made four ground balls.
    • Sophomore Bryce Crowell went 25-for-26 in the face-off "X" and shoveled a game-best 18 ground balls.
    • Junior Cole Michaud added eight ground balls and 9-for-9 on face-offs.
    • Senior Sam Nichol, sophomore Addison Thawley (5 points) and freshman Ryan Dunstan also recorded a hat trick each.
    • Sophomore Matthew Villeneuve led the defense with eight ground balls.
  • MCLA Highlights
    • Neal Brierley scored all three of his team's goals.
    • Josh Hemstock and Josh Hemstock also got on the scoresheet with an assist apiece.
