Trailblazer Men run past Cobleskill 5-0

Cobleskill, NY- The MCLA Men's Soccer team picked up a much needed victory this afternoon easily disposing of the Cobleskill Fighting Tigers 5-0.  The Trailblazers snapped a five game slide with the win to improve to 3-5 overall.  Cobleskill remains winless at 0-9.

Shawn Willis earned the shutout victory in his first start of the season stopping 7 shots in net.  While that performance was stout, he was also credited with the game winning goal as his punt in the fourth minute bounced over the head of the Cobleskill keeper for the only goal of Willis' career.

Willis' goal started a barrage in the opening half.  Robert Dalby scored his first goal of the season in the 29th minute converting a Tyler Vona through pass for a 2-0 edge, and then just before halftime, Peter Allen headed home a cross from Tyler Guzzi to make it 3-0 at intermission.

Any thoughts of a Cobleskill comeback would be put to bed early in the second half as MCLA leading scorer Dylan Pereira scored his 8th goal of the season from a Romeo Gray feed to make it 4-0 just 1:30 into the second half.

Ben Sousa rounded out the scoring in the 79th minute for MCLA.

The Trailblazers owned a 17-10 shot advantage over Cobleskill on the afternoon.

MCLA will be back in action on Saturday at 1pm when they host Fitchburg State in a key MASCAC matchup.
