Men's Soccer rally falls short at Sage

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Trailblazers of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on a rain soaked Saturday afternoon. The Gators collected a 3-2 win to collect the team's first victory of the 2014 campaign and now stand at 1-4. MCLA drops to 3-2.
 
The Gators took an early leads as sophomore midfielder Kyle LeClerc (Beacon, NY/Beacon) converted a feed from freshman Paul Reynoso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley)just 2:52 into the action. Junior Mu'Ammar Camara (New Haven, CT/Eli Whitney) found the net at 20:41 to give Sage a 2-0 lead at the break.
 
MCLA's freshman midfielder Oscar Castro (Middle Island, NY/Longwood Senior) converted a pass from sophomore Dylan Pereira (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) to put the Trailblazers on the scoreboard at 79:41. Sage answered right back with a break-away goal from sophomore Elhadj Kourouma (New Haven, CT/Wilbur L. Cross) at 80:31. Pereira scored at 83:14 to keep MCLA within striking distance and he found the left side of the net on a pass from freshman Chris Shea (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) on a corner kick from the right side.
 
LeClerc now leads the Gators in scoring with his two goals and four points, while Pereira leads MCLA with his six points on two goals and two assists.
 
Sage's junior goalie TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) had one save in the action, while MCLA's senior Matt Robinson (Petersham, MA/Mahar Regional) made three saves.
 
Sage is back in action in the Gators' on September 17 at 7 p.m. as they travel to Union College for a non-conference contest. MCLA hosts Worcester State next on September 20 at 1 p.m.
