Trailblazers, Vikings draw 1-1 at Shewcraft Field in Men's Soccer

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Soccer got a boost when reserve Issa Jalloh scored his first collegiate goal in the 78th minute as the Trailblazers went on to draw with visiting Salem State 1-1 this afternoon in MASCAC action at Shewcraft Field.  With the draw, the Trailblazers are now 4-4-1 overall and sit at 1-0-1 in the conference.

The Vikings earn the second straight tie in MASCAC play (0-0-2) and are 2-1-3 overall.

In the opening half, MCLA controlled much of the play as they outshot SSU 19-3.  However a Trailblazer handball in the box resulted in a penalty kick opportunity for the Vikings in the 28th minute.  Salem's Kevin Gallo would do the honors and he easily beat MCLA keeper Kamron Anderson to the lower right side for a 1-0 lead.

The Trailblazers appeared to tie the game twice in the opening half as Anthony Basile found the net twice, however both goals were nullifed due to foul and offsides calls.  The score would remain 1-0 SSU at halftime.

The second half was more balanced and the score remained that way until Jalloh's goal.  Just inserted into the action, he would corral a rebound off a Romeo Grey attempt and knock it home from close range tying the game at 1-1.  It would remain that way until the end of regulation.

In the overtime periods, each team mustered up some scoring chances, however neither side could convert the game winner.

MCLA ended the game owning a 31-15 shot advantage while also holding a 16-5 mark in corners.

Anderson would stop 6 shots for the Trailblazers while his counterpart Greg Enos made 7 stops for the Vikings.

MCLA is off until next weekend when they travel to Westfield State for another MASCAC matchup.
