North Adams, MA- Westfield State's Kyle Mutti had a goal and two assists as the Owls scored three unanswered goals as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 3-1 in MASCAC action at Shewcraft Field.  The Owls improve to 3-4 overall and even their conference mark at 1-1.

MCLA drops their third straight game in falling to 2-6 and is now 0-2 in the MASCAC.

MCLA struck first in the contest in the 20th minute.  Romeo Grey got loose behind the Owl defense and ripped a shot from close range that Westfield's Sean Moore saved, however the rebound went right to Callahan.  The junior kicked it home past Moore for an early 1-0 advantage.  The goal was his first of the season.

The Owls regrouped and took over for the rest of the half.  In the 33rd minute, they finally broke through.  Kyle Mutti took the ball into the far right corner of the box and slid a perfect cross past the MCLA defense.  His pass found the foot of Luis Nieves who easily beat MCLA's Kamron Anderson tying the game at 1-1.  The goal was Nieves' second of the season.

They would keep up the pressure and eventually take the lead in the 40th minute with Mutti once again in the middle of the action.  This time, he would head home a cross from Connor Gilbert to give the Owls the lead 2-1.  The marker was Mutti's team leading third of the season.

The Owls outshot MCLA 10-5 in the opening half and held a 4-1 edge in corners.

In the second half, MCLA pressed forward but Owl keeper Moore made a save off a long shot attempt.  Moore would then boot the ball well into the MCLA end that found a streaking Mutti.  He dribbled past the defense and found Nieves on the right flank.  He lofted a shot into the upper right corner for a 3-1 edge and in the process tied Mutti with his third goal of the season.

The Owls Moore stopped three shots to earn the win in goal.  Westfield outshot MCLA 21-10 in the contest.
