Men's Soccer earns first MASCAC win with 3-0 shutout of Mass. Maritime

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Soccer had three different players find the back of the net as they cruised past visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-0 this evening in MASCAC action at Shewcraft Field.  With the win, the Trailblazers snap a four game slide and are now 3-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.  The Buccaneers drop to 2-7 and are also 1-2 in the MASCAC.

Both teams came out firing in the first half, but ultimately MCLA would find the net in the 10th minute.  After a foul on MMA at midfield, Ryan Wanek would loft a ball into the box.  It bounced over a Maritime defender and there waiting was Colin Rousseau.  He would head home the ball past MMA's Mike Pruchnik for an early 1-0 lead.  The marker was the first in the career of Rousseau.  The score would remain tied at halftime even though the visitors outshot MCLA 15-3.

The Trailblazers would add to the lead in the 60th minute.  MMA committed a foul in the box giving the hosts a penalty kick.  Trailblazer senior Oscar Castro was called upon and he calmly sent the ball into the lower left corner for a 2-0 edge.  MCLA would round out the scoring in the 72nd minute when leading scorer Romeo Grey tallied.  He was the beneficiary of a loose ball in the box and he slipped a shot past Pruchnik making it 3-0.  It was his team leading third goal of the season.

Maritime had chances throughout, however MCLA keeper Kamron Anderson would keep the zero on the scoreboard.  He stopped 8 shots to earn the shutout and the win.

Pruchnik collected 4 saves in a losing effort.

While Maritime outshot MCLA 27-12 in the game, it was only 12-9 in the pivotal second half.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Western Connecticut.
