Men's Soccer falls to Falcons in MASCAC play 3-0
North Adams, MA- The visiting Fitchburg State men's soccer team received a pair of goals from Alexander Lloyd as they shutout MCLA 3-0 this evening in MASCAC action at Shewcraft Field. The Falcons improve to 4-3-1 overall and even their MASCAC record at 1-1.
MCLA dips to 1-7 overall and is now 0-2 in the league.
Lloyd kicked off the scoring in the 11th minute as he converted his fifth goal of the season to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Sean Nugent and Sebastian Pina were credited with the assist. The score would remain that way into halftime as the visitors owned a slim 9-8 shot advantage.
Fitchburg would break open the game in the second half with Lloyd once again playing a key role. He would collect his sixth goal of the season in the 56th minute to increase the lead to 2-0. Pina would then add the dagger, his second goal of the season, in the 67th minute to up the margin to 3-0.
MCLA would not threaten the rest of the way.
Fitchburg's Branton Abbett (3-2) would earn the win for the Falcons stopping all seven shots he saw. Fitchburg outshot MCLA 17-13 in the contest.
MCLA's Sam Edge absorbed the loss. Edge ended with four saves.
The Trailblazers are off for a week before heading to Salem State to continue conference play.
