Griffith, Taylor Claim MASCAC Weekly Honors

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— MCLA sophomore midfielder Traizen Griffith (Enfield, CT / Enfield) and senior goalkeeper Ryan Taylor (Plattsburgh, NY / Plattsburgh) have been chosen as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Griffith and Taylor are joined by Salem State freshman defender Stephane Fevry (Haverhill, MA /Haverhill) who earned Rookie of the Week Honors.
MCLA went 2-0 this week with Griffith scoring the game-winning goals in both contests. He scored in the 58th minute to put the Trailblazers up 2-0 in their 3-1 win against Lesley University and later in the week his goal in the 19th minute at SUNY Cobleskill would be all the Trailblazers needed as they went on to win 3-0.
Taylor earned both of those wins in net this week with an .875 save percentage, 0.50 GAA and seven saves. He made four saves in the 3-1 win over Lesley University and added three more in his first shutout of the season in the 3-0 road victory against SUNY Cobleskill.
Griffith, Taylor and the rest of the Trailblazers look for their fourth straight victory this Friday as they host Framingham State at Shewcraft Field in both team's MASCAC season opener.
