Phillips Claims MASCAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week Honors
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) has announced that MCLA's Mateo Phillips (Pittsfield, MA) has been chosen as the Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. Phillips joins Fitchburg State's Elijah Kalombo (Worcester, MA) who earned Player of the Week and Westfield State's Luke Theroux (Chicopee, MA) who was named Defensive Player of the Week, as this week's MASCAC Men's Soccer award winners.
Phillips scored a goal and assisted on another in MCLA's dominant 5-1 win over Framingham State in both teams MASCAC season opener. The sophomore's first career goal in the 42nd minute which put the Trailblazers up 3-0, and subsequent assist on the fourth goal, helped seal MCLA's fourth straight win
Phillips and the Trailblazers are at VTSU Lyndon tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm.
