Tennis blanked by Colby Sawyer 9-0 in NAC action

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 14, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team earned a 9-0 win over MCLA in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division match at Kelsey Courts on Thursday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 7-5 overall and sit atop the NAC East Division standings at 3-0. The Chargers will travel to Green Mountain on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match with the Eagles. MCLA drops to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The Trailblazers will host Lyndon on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Chargers' top doubles team of Gustav Jigrup (Vastra Frolunda, Sweden) and Shawn Bissonette (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) defeated MCLA duo Aaron Goldsmith and Rob Washinak, 8-3. Ross Kenney (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and Alex Wright (St. Austell, Cornwall, England) did not drop a game en route to an 8-0 victory at No. 2 over Michael Rooney and Richard LaRoque. Julius Graefe (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Andrew Peloquin (Greenville, R.I.) combined for an 8-1 victory over Jeff Mason and Jared Freeman at No. 3.

Peloquin did not drop a game in his 6-0, 6-0 win at the fifth flight over Mason.

Ross Kenney, Ryan Broderick (Londonderry, N.H.) and Alex Townsend (Bangor, Maine) dropped just one game apiece on their way to straight sets victories at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

Jigrup and Wright took the top two flights over Goldsmith and Wabshinak by identical scores of 6-3, 6-1.
