Tennis cruises past Lyndon State 7-2 in NAC action

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's tennis team swept through doubles on their way to a convincing 7-2 win over the visiting Lyndon State Hornets this morning at Zavattaro athletics complex.  With the win, MCLA moves to 2-1 in the NAC and 2-4 overall.  The Hornets are now 1-7 on the season and in search of their first NAC win at 0-3.

Aaron Goldsmith and Rob Wabshinak breezed their way to a point in an 8-0 win over Trevor Updike and Jake LaCerda in the top doubles slot.  Mike Rooney and Rich LaRocque earned an 8-3 win in the second doubles match, while Jeff Mason and Jared Freeman won by the same score giving MCLA a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Goldsmith won a hard fought match with Updike in the top slot, while Wabshinak cruised to his second point of the day against Michael Sigsbury.

The Hornets would take points in the third and fourth singles matches, however MCLA's Jeff Mason and Jared Freeman collected wins to round out the scoring.

MCLA is back at it tomorrow as they challenge Thomas College in NAC action at the complex.
