Gambill's 23rd place finish leads individuals at MASCAC Cross Country Championships

Worcester, MA- Six MCLA individuals competed this afternoon in the MASCAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Worcester State University.  Trailblazer Julie Gambill was the top finisher as she ended in 23rd place in the women's 5k race.  

Others competing in the women's Championship were Hannah Poplawski, Domenica Gomez, and Hunter Schrade.

Westfield State University was crowned MASCAC Champion with 34 points. The Owls were led by freshman Grace Phair, who was named MASCAC Runner and Rookie of the Year with a first place finish, crossing the line in 19:10. Amy O'Sullivan and Andrea Noland also earned All-Conference honors for top 10 finishes for Westfield.

In second place was Bridgewater State University with a team score of 51 points. The top Bear finisher was senior Jenise Madden, who finished in second overall and a time of 19:23. Kaylee Dunn and Katherine Vogel joined Madden on the All-Conference team for Bridgewater State.

In the men's race, MCLA's Theodore Jones and Isaac Sibley competed.

Bridgewater State University was crowned MASCAC Champion with 37 points. The Bears were led by senior Trevor Wysong, who was named MASCAC Runner of the Year with a first place finish, crossing the line in 25:57. Mike Hutchinson and Josh Higgins also earned All-Conference honors for top 10 finishes for Bridgewater.

In second place was Westfield State University with a team score of 60 points. The top Owl finisher was freshman Jack Merck, who finished in ninth overall with a time of 28:16, good for MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors. Tenth-place finisher Zachary Bentley was also named All-Conference for Westfield State.
