MCLA splits Spring Break opener in Fort Myers, Florida

Fort Myers, FL- MCLA softball saw the dirt for the first time this morning opening up their Spring Break trip in Fort Myers. The Trailblazers dropped the first game in a mercy rule decision to WPI 9-0, and then their bats came alive in a 14-4 win against Newbury College.

The Trailblazers started the first game giving up four runs in the first inning and couldn't dig themselves out of the hole. WPI ended up going on to score five more runs in the game. Fekete went 4-4 at the plate.

MCLA could only muster up hits by Sam Barbarotta, Kendra Hobbs and Michaela DiNicola. Ainsley McDonald took the loss.

MCLA's bats woke up in the second game as they went on to score 14 runs on 13 hits. Angelica Perfido went 4-5 and scored three runs along with DiNicola who went 3-4.

Rayelle Pierson picked up her second win on the season going all seven innings giving up four runs on eight hits.

The Trailblazers will be back in action tomorrow when they face Kenyon at 9:00 am followed by Wittenburg.
