Michaela DiNicola goes 4-6 but MCLA drops a pair of games

Fort Myers, FL- On a sunny morning in Fort Myers the MCLA softball team  dropped a pair of games to Kenyon College 8-2 and then to Wittenberg 9-2.

In game one the Trailblazers fell behind early giving up four runs in the first inning. Maddy Stark started the rally in the first inning by getting on base due to an infield error. A sacrifice by Meredith Williams and Stark took second base and later ended up scoring on a base hit by Jamie Samuel. Samuel stole second base moved to third on an over throw and scored on a base hit. Kenyon scored again in the second inning and then held scoreless until the sixth.

The Trailblazers struggled offensively being held to five hits and only produced two runs. Michaela DiNicola was hot again getting two of the teams hits in her three at bats.

Kenyon improved to 8-2 and Stark picked up her fourth win while MCLA falls to 3-1.

Game two started out the same way for the Trailblazers giving up three quick runs to the Tigers.  The Trailblazers held the Tigers and scored two runs of their own making the game 3-2 before entering the fifth.

Two walks and two stolen bases scored two more runs for the Tigers and MCLA couldn't score the rest of the way and the Tigers ended up scoring four more in the sixth.

MCLA threatened once in the fifth with two outs and runners on second and third but an Angelica Perfido pop out ended the inning. The Trailblazers only strung together two more hits the rest of the game. DiNicola finished the game 2 for 3.

Winning pitcher Rachel Ross helped herself at the plate going 2-3 and scored two runs. Wittenberg improved to 8-1 while MCLA evened their record at 3-3.
