MCLA earns 18th win of season over Southern Vermont 8-0

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers hosted Southern Vermont College for a single game this afternoon. The Trailblazers came away with a mercy rule win giving them their 18th win of the season.

Ainsley MacDonald earned the win in the circle pitching all five innings.

The only threat the Moutaineers had was in the first inning. Leadoff batter Erika Garay earned herself a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and then advanced to third on a ground out.

MCLA got on the board right away in the bottom of the inning. Back to back singles by Michaela DiNicola and Amanda Meczywor put runners on first and second. Angelica Perfido reached base on a fielder's choice. With bases loaded Sam Barbarotta grounded out to the shortstop but DiNicola came around to score the first run of the game. Tanelle Ciempa would come up and rip a two RBI double, putting the Trailblazers up 3-0.

MacDonald did all the work she needed for her team as she shut the Mountaineers down and only giving up two hits.

The Trailblazers again scored in the second inning. Kendra Hobbs reached on an outfield error and came around to score on DiNicola's second base hit of the game.

MCLA scored two more runs in the fourth inning and pinch hitter Rayelle Pierson hit a double in the gapper scoring pinch runner Rachel Quackenbush to end the game.

DiNicola hit safely in all three of her at-bats while follow freshman Shelbi Clary hit her second home run or the year.

The Trailblazers will be back at Zavattaro field tomorrow when they host cross town rival Williams College (3:30) and then back again on Friday when they host the second round of the MASCAC tournament.
