Quackenbush, Henault lead MCLA to wins over Endicott and Lasell

Clermont, FL- The MCLA Trailblazers got a complete game performance in game one from Rachel Quackenbush and she picked up the save in game two of the afternoon as the softball team picked up a pair of wins.  MCLA earned a 7-3 win over Endicott in the opener before defeating Lasell College 5-2 in the nightcap.  The Trailblazers are now 3-1 on the season.

Game One-

The Trailblazer offense erupted for seven runs in the first inning against the Gulls to take command.  Three singles loaded the bases with two outs in the first before the home team got some clutch hitting.  Angelica Perfido walked forcing in the first run and Sierra Bailey followed with a double down the line scoring a pair to make it 3-0.

Sam Boyle and Francesca Belli followed with RBI singles and Katelyn Berghela doubled to drive in two more making it 7-0 for the Trailblazers.

Endicott would get a run back in the second on a single and an error.  From there, Quackenbush was the story as the Gulls couldn't scratch another across until the home seventh.

The Gulls would score two runs on three hits and an error, but Quackenbush would bear down and get a flyout to right field to end the game.

Endicott, who fell to 0-2 with the loss, had 8 hits in the game led by Jamie Corda's pair.

The Trailblazers were paced by Chelsea Coleman's 2-3 showing, while Quackenbush reached safely three times.

On the mound, Quackenbush tossed all seven frames and gave up 8 hits.  She struck out six Gulls and walked three.

Game Two-

In the nightcap, MCLA and Lasell were tied at 1-1 after an inning of play.  The Trailblazers would take the lead for good in the second when Katelyn Berghela was hit by a pitch with the bags full to force in a run making it 2-1 in favor of MCLA.

Trailblazer starter Katelyn Henault would keep the Lasers off the scoreboard in the next three frames while MCLA plated a pair of runs in the fourth.  Alex Romano doubled to leadoff the inning and singles by Michaela DiNicola and Jenn Sicinski loaded the bases for freshman Chelsea Coleman.  She dropped a single into right field plating a pair of runs making it 4-1 in favor of MCLA.

Henault would run in to trouble in the fifth when Lasell plated a run and had first and second without an out.  The Trailblazers would turn to Quackenbush and the right hander promptly recorded an out and a pair of K's to end the threat.  MCLA would add another insurance run in the fifth when Angelica Perfido scored on a Julie Watson infield hit.

Quackenbush did the rest as she didn't allow a hit and struck out six of the nine batters she faced.  Henault earned the win tossing the first four innings and yielding 7 hits and 2 earned runs.
