Softball swept today in Clermont

Clermont, FL- The MCLA Softball team fell this afternoon to Rutgers-Newark 5-2 in game one before dropping an eight inning affair to Ithaca 12-6 in the NTC spring games.  The Trailblazers are now 4-4 on the season.

In the nightcap, MCLA rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-4 lead only to see the Bombers scratch two across in the seventh to tie it up.  The Trailblazers had a golden chance to win it in the home half loading the bases with just one out, however a strikeout and popup ended the threat and sent the game into extras.

Using the international tiebreaker, Ithaca took advantage and scored six times to pull away and earn the win.

Kate Henault took the loss for MCLA tossing the 8th inning.

In the opener against Newark, it was 2-1 in favor of Newark after an inning of play.  From there, Newark would post a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth for insurance runs.  The Trailblazers would tally a single run in the seventh with two outs, however a lineout ended the game.

Rachel Quackenbush was saddled with the loss for MCLA.
