Berghela, Feinstein named Second Team All MASCAC in Softball

2019 All MASCAC Softball Team

North Adams, MA- A pair of MCLA Softball players were selected to the All MASCAC team this afternoon.  Outfielder Kaitlyn Berghela and Pitcher Samantha Feinstein were both named to the second team.  Berghela was selected to the All Conference team as a sophomore while it's Feinstein's first appearance on the team.

Worcester State's Kaiulani Ennis was tabbed as the conference's player of the year while Framingham State's Kelsi Gunarathne was the MASCAC Pitcher of the year.  Bridgewater State's Kelley Reichert was the rookie of the year while Fitchburg State's Merry MacDonald earned the Champions Choice Coach of the Year award.

Berghela had a strong senior season for the Trailblazers and spearheaded their offense all season long.  She batted .374 which put her ninth in the MASCAC statistically.  Berghela collected 40 hits with eight doubles and drove in 17 runs.  She was a threat on the basepaths with 12 stolen bases as well.

Feinstein showed significant improvement in her second season.  The sophomore carried a 2.85 ERA this season as the top pitcher for MCLA.  She appeared in 24 games and logged 17 starts.  She went 8-9 on the season in 118.1 innings.  She struck out 67 batters for the Trailblazers.
