McLaughlin, Trailblazer women shoot their way past Lasell 85-72

Boston, MA- MCLA's Courtney McLaughlin scored a season best 25 points as her Trailblazers shot their way past the Lasell Lasers 85-72 this evening in a non-conference matchup.  The win marks the fourth straight for MCLA as they improve to 4-2 on the season.  Lasell drops to 3-3 overall.

The Trailblazers rode a torrid first half shooting 68% to a commanding 53-31 halftime lead over the home side.  The hosts would cut the deficit to ten points on two separate occasions, but ultimately could not claw their way back.

MCLA sprinted out of the gate on the heels of McLaughlin as they went on to a 24-18 lead after one quarter and continued that scoring pace with a 29 point outburst in the second to pull away.

McLaughlin went 10-18 from the floor for her team best 25 points.  She would add 4 steals and 3 assists on the night.  Ashley Clawson put together her best game of the season tallying 17 points and 3 assists.  She shot a solid 6-9 from the field.  Kayla Hotaling added 15 points and a game best 6 assists while Courtney Durivage scored 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.

MCLA cooled off in the second half shooting the basketball, but still managed to shoot a season best 55% from the field.  Their full court pressure forced Lasell into 22 turnovers and converted them into 31 points.  The Trailblazers shared the basketball well assisting on 19 of 33 made field goals.

Lasell was paced by Deanna Barrett's game high 28 point effort.  She sank four three pointers and added 6 boards and 4 assists.  Katie Stopera added 21 points with four triples of her own in the loss with 6 assists.  The Lasers shot 47% from the floor.

The Trailblazers return home on Wednesday evening when they host Utica at 6pm in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.
