Women’s Basketball Drops Nonconference Decision at Lasell

NEWTON, Mass.— MCLA's Hailey Peabody finished with a game-high 17 points but the Trailblazers fell 55-30 at Lasell University today in nonconference women's basketball action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With Lasell up 13-8 after the first quarter, the Lasers would pull away using a 14-0 run to begin the second, holding MCLA to just two points to take a 29-10 advantage into the half.
- The Trailblazers played the hosts even to start the third but another 7-0 run to close the quarter put the Lasell up 44-17 after three.
- Peabody chipped in 8 points in the fourth as MCLA fought to the end outscoring Lasell 13-11 in the final stanza, but it proved to be too little, too late as the Lasers walked away with the 55-30 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Lasell shot 40.4% from the field on 23-for-57 shooting including 6-for-20 (30%) from three-point land. The Lasers were 3-for7 from the foul line.
- MCLA was just 12-for-46 (26.1%) from the field going 0-for-11 from beyond the arc. The Trailblazers hit 6-of-16 free throw attempts in the game.
- Peabody led all scores with 17 points while Zaylee Ramos chipped in 9 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.
- Lasell was led by Kiara Cerruti who finished with 15 points and Brooke Damboise who added 10.
- The Lasers outrebounded the Trailblazers 47-26.

Both teams are back in action on Wednesday as Lasell hosts Wheaton at 7pm and MCLA travels to Nichols for a 5:30pm tip.
