Women’s Basketball Can’t Keep Pace with Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The MCLA Women's Basketball team played their first road MASCAC game of the season this afternoon, traveling to Westfield State for a matchup with the Owls at the Westfield State Wellness Center. Kristie Zator recorded her third straight double-double, but it wasn't enough to overcome a Westfield team that had four players finish in double digits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Westfield State scored 16 of the first 20 points in the game and finished the first quarter up 20-6.
- MCLA was held to another six points in the second quarter while the Owls lead grew to 55-12.
- The Trailblazers nearly matched their first-half output with 11 points in the third quarter, with baskets from five different players. However, Westfield grew their lead, scoring 18 points in the third frame.
- The visitors would not get any closer as the Owls would continue their pattern and extend their lead in each quarter while cruising to a comfortable 95-32 victory.
- Sophomore forward Kristie Zator finished the third game in a row with a double-double, recording a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- Westfield was paced by a quartet of double-digit scorers, headed by a game-high 24 points from Olivia Hadla and 15 points from Jordan Grant.
- Morgan Berthiaume and Hannah Sheldon scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench as the Owls enjoyed a 46-5 advantage in bench scoring.
- Not all was doom and gloom for the Trailblazers as they finished the game with a 43-39 advantage in rebounds, including a 33-20 edge on the defensive glass.
