HIGHLIGHTS
- Hood College recorded the game's first goal just over five minutes into the first period. The Blazers' Dakota Ormiston picked up a pass from a teammate that leaked out of the MCLA end around center ice and skated into the left corner before letting a short angle shot that found its way into the goal. The goal was Ormiston's first of her collegiate career.
- Ormiston's goal held until just over five minutes left in the second period when sophomore defenseman Summer Bissaillion (Blind River, ON / Sudbury Wolves) scored the Trailblazers' second short-handed goal of the season. After a scrum in front of her own net, Bissaillion came out with the puck and passed it off the boards to herself along the right wing. She outskated a pair of Blazer defenders across mid-ice and chipped the puck over the goalie's stick-side shoulder from between the faceoff circles.
- Following a scoreless third period that forced some bonus hockey, Bissaillion scored again to send the MCLA home with a sweep of the visitors from Maryland. Almost the entirety of the three-on-three overtime was spent with the Trailblazers in control of the puck until sophomore forward Rebekah Ade (Yucca Valley, CA / New Jersey Colonials) came out of the right-side corner with possession and centered a pass to a streaking Bissaillion in front of the net for another chip over the goalie's stick-side shoulder to the short side of the net. The goal was Bissaillion's third of the season, and the assist was Ade's third of the year.
- Sophomore goalie Kaitlyn O'Brien (Ridley Park, PA / Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) stopped 25 of 26 shots on net for the Trailblazers to improve her record to 3-2-0, while Hood's Kamryn Sohner finished the day with 29 saves on 31 shots to fall to 1-2-0.
