First half dooms lacrosse as they fall to Becker

Leicester, MA- The Becker College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a commanding 8-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a non conference win over the MCLA Trailblazers 15-4 this evening at Alumni Field.  The Hawks are now 5-1 while MCLA is 0-5.

The game was originally set for last weekend, but was postponed due to weather complications.

Becker wasted little time getting onto the scoreboard.  Just 1:35 into the contest, Shannon Siclari tallied for an early lead.  Cassandra Nelson would score just thirty seconds later to make it 2-0.  Becker's Arianna Calouro netted the next two goals to increase the margin to 4-0.

The Hawks would add a pair tallies from Clare Conway and Julia Ravenelle to cap off their 8-0 run to start the game. 

MCLA couldn't muster up much offense, but Kim Granito finally stopped the bleeding with her first goal with 11:50 left til halftime to make it 8-1.  Becker would eventuall lead 11-2 at the half.

Both teams settled down in the second half, but Becker was never challenged.

MCLA was paced by Granito who scored all four goals for the Trailblazers.  She added 5 groundballs.  Shannon Prouty took the loss for MCLA as she collected 12 saves in the loss.

Calouro led Becker with four goals.  Ravenelle added a trio of goals for the Hawks.  Conway, Siclari, and Nelson each ended with two goals.

Nikolle Storey earned the win for Becker collecting four saves in the first half.  

MCLA is back in action at Shewcraft Field on Saturday when they host Fitchburg State.
