Women's Lacrosse falls to Fitchburg in MASCAC action

North Adams, MA- Fitchburg State's Sarah Napolitano scored five goals and nine different Falcons found the net as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 16-5 this afternoon in MASCAC action.  The Falcons improve to 2-8 overall and are now 1-1 in the league.  MCLA drops to 0-6 overall and is 0-2 in the conference.

MCLA scored the game's first goal as Brianna Morris converted a Kim Granito feed for a 1-0 early advantage just 27 seconds into the contest.  Fitchburg would respond by scoring the next seven goals to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

Sarah Napolitano had three goals in the run for the Falcons.  Granito would stop the bleeding by scoring consecutive goals to pull the Trailblazers within 7-3.  Fitchburg would have the answer though as they would outscore 3-1 over the final minutes of the half to lead 10-4 at the break.

Fitchburg outshot MCLA 24-12 in the half.

The Falcons outscored MCLA 6-1 over the closing thirty minutes of play to pull away to the victory.

Tracy Long added 4 goals and 2 assist in the win.  Marguerite Belcher earned the win stopping six shots on the afternoon.

Granito paced MCLA with 4 goals.  Shannon Prouty stopped 7 shots in the loss.
