Women's Lax falls to Sage
Troy, NY- Russell Sage's Laliah Espinal scored four goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Gators to a 16-1 romp over the MCLA Trailblazers this afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action. Sage is now 2-4 on the season while MCLA drops to 1-4 overall.
Sage took control early and never looked back. The Gators jumped out to a 4-0 first quarter lead as Grace Hines tallied twice while Espinal added her first marker in the quarter.
The hosts dominated the second quarter outscoring MCLA 9-0 to take a commanding 13-0 lead into halftime. Espinal scored three times in the quarter while Hines tallied another.
The lead would grow to 16-0 before MCLA's Julia Graham finally got the Trailblazers on the board late in the fourth quarter.
Aleesha Quinlivan got the start in goal for MCLA and collected 7 saves.
Hines and Samantha Shafer each ended with three goals for Russell Sage. The Gators owned a 34-5 edge in shots.
MCLA is off until next Saturday when they travel to Worcester State to open up league play.
