Bresett, Chapman lead MCLA past Green Mountain 2-0

September 22nd, 2010 – (Poultney, Vt.) – The visiting MCLA Trailblazers scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 victory over Green Mountain College in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.  MCLA runs their record to 2-2-1 while the Eagles fall to 1-5-1.

MCLA controlled the majority of play in early stages and were rewarded when senior Jess Tietgens (Stamford, Vt.) slipped a through ball to Brianna Bresett (Adams, Mass.) in the 9th minute.  Bresett coolly tucked it away for her first goal of the season.  The Trailblazers continued to attack racking up nine shots and forcing GMC goalkeeper Karen Davidson (Seymour, Conn.) into four stops.

The visiting side pressed again in second half and doubled their lead in the 58th when Karrah Chapman was quickest to the ball in a goalmouth scrambled following a corner kick.

On the afternoon, MCLA tallied 20 shots including 11 on frame while the Eagles managed three shots.  Davidson finished the day with nine saves while Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, N.Y.) made two saves in 79 minutes of action before she gave way to sophomore Kate Tsapatsaris (Peabody, Mass.) for final 11 minutes of action.

The Eagles return to action Saturday when they host the University of Maine Farmington at 3:30 pm in their conference opener while the Trailblazers host Salem State Saturday at 1:00 pm.
