Traiblazers win sixth in a row, handle MASCAC foe Framingham 4-1

Framingham, MA- The MCLA women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Framingham State University women's soccer team 4-1 today in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer action at Maple Street Field. With the win, the Trailblazers snap a two game winning streak by the Rams and improve to 7-2-2 on the season and 3-0-1 in the conference.  The loss drops the Rams to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the MASCAC.        

MCLA took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute as the Trailblazers converted on one of their four corner kicks in the game.  Sophomore Lindsay Borbolla (Greenwich, NY) launched the ball into the box, and senior Danielle Parenteau (Southampton, Mass.) headed it home for the game's first goal.

The Rams battled back and tied the score at the 30:39 mark as Kara Herbert (Merrimac, Mass.) sent the ball ahead to sophomore Megan Gangell (Lee, Mass.), who knocked a shot just inside the far post. 

Ten minutes later, the Trailblazers would take the lead for good as Borbolla scored unassisted on a blast from the right side from 20 yards out.

The Trailblazers added two insurance goals in the second half to secure the win.  Senior Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) scored on a penalty kick at 69:32 and sophomore Brianna Bresett (Adams, Mass.) scored unassisted with three minutes left in the game to reach the final margin of 4-1. 

Senior Jill Johnson (Mansfield, Mass.) once again got the start in net for the Rams and made six saves in the game, while junior Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) picked up the victory in net for MCLA and also made six saves.  

The Rams return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Rhode Island College at 4 p.m., while the Trailblazers travel to UMass Dartmouth on Monday at 1 p.m.
