MCLA falls on the road to Bard 1-0

The MCLA Women's Soccer team fell to Bard College 1-0 this afternoon.  With the loss, the Trailblazers fall to 1-1-1 on the season while Bard earned their first win in 2010.

The Raptors found the back of the net as the first half was coming to a close.  With just over a minute remaining, Bard's Maddy Huggins stole the ball from an MCLA defender and broke free against MCLA keeper Jen Wehner.  Huggins beat Wehner and Bard took the 1-0 lead into halftime.  The goal ended Wehner's scoreless streak at 243:00 to start the season.

MCLA would try to be more aggresive in the second half as they outshot Bard 6-3, however they could not get a shot by Raptor keeper Amy Strawbridge.  Strawbridge would end her night with 5 saves compared to four for Wehner.

For the game, Bard held MCLA forward Jess Tietgens without a shot attempt.  Tietgens is the all time scoring leader at the college.

MCLA will look to rebound this week when they travel to Castleton State for a 7:00pm kickoff on Wednesday.
