MCLA earns home victory against Smith College 1-0
North Adams, MA- MCLA senior captain Danielle Parenteau scored in 18th minute to lead the Trailblazers to a 1-0 non league win over Smith College at Shewcraft Field. With the win, MCLA improves to 1-0-1 on the season. The loss was the season opener for Smith.
Parenteau's first half tally came off a great cross from senior Jess Tietgens to give MCLA an early lead. The Trailblazers would continue to apply pressure in the half, but could not get past Smith keeper Lindsey Gregor. The Trailblazers held a 9-1 shot advantage in the half.
The second half saw MCLA continue to pressure up front. Parenteau, Tietgens, and sophomore Lindsay Borbolla would each have numerous chances to ice the game, but narrowly missed the net.
For the second consecutive start, MCLA posted a solid defensive effort limiting Smith to four total shots in the contest. Trailblazer sophomore keeper Jen Wehner earned the shutout victory stopping three shots on the afternoon.
MCLA held a decisive 27-4 shot advantage.
MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Bard College.
