Trailblazers run past Green Mountain 2-0 in Women's Soccer

North Adams, MA- MCLA used a pair of first half goals to run past visiting Green Mountain College 2-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.  The Trailblazers improve to 2-5-1 overall.  The Eagles fall to 0-5-1 with the setback.

MCLA used a three minute stretch in the opening half to complete the scoring.  Trailblazer Brianna Dandurant tallied in the 19th minute taking a Christina Klich through ball down the middle which took Green Mountain keeper, Emma Lord, off the line.  Dandurant easily beat Lord to the far post for a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later, Lauren Ford took a free kick and sent it over the top of the Eagles defense.  Brianna Bresett ran it down and went in unmarked, beating Lord for a commanding 2-0 advantage. 

MCLA had a few chances in the second half to extend as the hit the post twice and crossbar once.  The Trailblazers held a commanding 25-3 shot advantage.

Reigning MASCAC player of the week Jen Wehner earned the win in goal stopping one shot in the first half.  She was replaced by Danielle Heinsohn, who finished off the shutout.  Lord tallied 8 saves for the Eagles.

MCLA will host Massachusetts Maritime in a MASCAC matchup Saturday at 1pm.
