Second half surge lifts Framingham past MCLA 3-1 in Women's Soccer

North Adams, MA- The visiting Framingham State University Rams used a late first half goal and a strong second half to push past MCLA 3-1 in Women's Soccer.  The Rams' Isabela DeSouza scored a pair of goals, both in the second half, while assisting on the first.  With the win, Framingham moves to 6-5-1 overall, but 2-1-1 in the MASCAC.  MCLA falls to 4-7-1, including a 1-2-1 mark in conference play.

The opening half was played at a fast pace with each team having quality chances to break through first.  The Rams broke the ice with just 38 seconds left before halftime.  Marisa Parent took a DeSouza feed and went in uncontested to the goal.  She easily beat Trailblazer keeper Jen Wehner for the 1-0 halftime lead.

Framingham used an aggressive opening to the second half to take complete control.  DeSouza tallied the first of her goals in the 49th minute as she headed home a Kayla Austin corner kick.  In the 66th minute, she would take a cross from Parent and hammered it home for a commanding 3-0 lead.

MCLA would tally their only goal with five minutes to play when Lindsay Roy converted off of a Tia Polana through ball.  The Trailblazers would not threaten again.

The Rams owned a 27-11 shot advantage, including a 14-5 edge in the second half.  They also held a 7-1 mark in corners.

McKenzie Vershon earned the win in net stopping 3 shots on the afternoon.  Wehner would stop 10 shots in the loss.

MCLA will travel to Sage College on Wednesday for a non league matchup.
