Ferrari's hat trick propels Trailblazer's to a 4-3 double OT win

Chicopee, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team notched their first win of the early season in a comeback, double overtime thriller versus the Elms College Blazers this afternoon 4-3.   MCLA junior Jennifer Ferrari collected a hat trick, including the game winner, while Lindsay Borbolla added a marker and three assists.

The Trailblazers improve to 1-2 on the season while Elms is now 1-3.

The first score of the match came in the 22nd minute after a Trailblazers own goal. Elms went up 2-0 in the 33rd minute when the Blazers Marissa Yowell scored a goal in the upper right corner of the net. 

Borbolla put the Trailblazers on the board after she put the ball in the back of the net off a free kick. Three minutes later in the 64th. Ferrari scored her first goal of the season off a Borbolla corner kick. 

Elms went up 3-2 when Hannah Spring beat the keeper at the 18 and put the shot in the middle of the net. One minute later, MCLA scored the equalizer again taking advantage of the success of the corner kick tandem of Borbolla and Ferrari. 

In the 103rd minute, Borbolla would find Ferrari again for her third assist of the afternoon, while giving Ferrari the impressive hat-trick. 

Between the pipes Trailblazer goalie Danielle Heinsohn had 8 saves to earn the win. 

The MCLA Women have their next game scheduled for Wednesday night under the lights at Castleton.
