MCLA can't hold off visiting Vikings

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers (1-4, 0-1) dropped their conference opener this afternoon against the visiting Salem State University Vikings (3-2, 1-0) 4-1.

Keisha Devoe had the lone Trailblazers goal coming in the 73rd minute when she received a through ball from Lindsay Borbolla.

The visiting Vikings got on the board early when Casey Connolly touched the ball past goalkeeper Danielle Heinsohn. The Vikings would then strike again in the 29th minute when Kelly Birchmore received a pass from Amy Griffith and sent it into the upper left corner. Connolly didn't go quite as she struck again in the 32nd minute to give her team a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The Trailblazers had their best scoring chance with 1 minute remaining in the first half when Brianna Dandurant sent a through ball to Borbolla, but Borbolla was called offside.

The Vikings outshot the Trailblazers 29-7 on the afternoon.

The Trailblazers are back in action Tuesday September 18, 2012 at home taking on Sage. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
