Borbolla leads MCLA past Lyndon State 4-0

North Adams, MA- Behind a pair of goals and an assist from Lindsay Borbolla, the MCLA Trailblazers defeated Lyndon State 4-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field. 

The Trailblazers improve to 4-6 on the season while the Hornets fall to 2-9 on the year.

The Trailblazers got out to a hot start on the rainy afternoon with the opportunity to get multiple corner kicks in the early minutes. However the Hornets held off the attack with strong defense and several saves by Goalie Samantha Smith, who finished the match with 12 saves. MCLA took 18 shots in the first half but didnt capitalize until Jennifer Ferrari headed one home in the 26th minute from Borbolla's free kick.

In the second period, MCLA capitalized on their opportunities when Rebecca Pike put one in the back of the net after she broke away from the Lyndon defense in the 54th minute. Borbolla would tack on two more goals before the match was over, her second goal came after she settled a pass from Senior Kasie Harrington and found the back of the net to make the score 4-0.

The Trailblazers played a tough defnesive game allowing 3 shots, while Sophomore Goalie Danielle Heinsohn made one save on the day.

The Trailblazers look to get their next win this Saturday at Shewcraft field agaisnt visting Fitchburg State.
