Heinsohn records sixth shutout in 2-0 win over Mt. Holyoke

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazers won their second straight non-conference game as they defeated the Mount Holyoke Lyons 2-0 at Shewcraft Field.  MCLA improves to 7-9 overall, while the Lyons drop to 2-12-2.

In the opening period, MCLA struck in the 6th minute when Janelle Stannard headed home a corner kick off the foot of Lindsay Borbolla.   The goal gave MCLA a 1-0 lead and was her first tally of the season.  The visiting Lyons had plenty of chances to grab the equalizer, yet couldn't push the ball past MCLA net minder Danielle Heinsohn

Mt. Holyoke's Ali Rossi got behind the defense in the 30th minute and was alone against Heinsohn, but her shot sailed over the crossbar preserving the 1-0 advantage.  The Trailblazers would strike again in the 39th minute when Jennifer Ferrari got past the defense and pressured Lyons' keeper Mackenzie Randall.   She easily passed off to Keisha Devoe who tapped the pass home for a 2-0 lead.  It was her second tally of the season.  MCLA would hold the lead into halftime.

The Lyons had a great opportunity to get back into the game just four minutes into the second half, but an offsides call nullified a goal.  Minutes later, Borbolla hit the crossbar as MCLA looked to extend the lead.

Heinsohn recorded her sixth shutout of the season stopping 8 shots on the afternoon.  Randall absorbed the loss while recording 6 saves.

MHC outshot the Trailblazers 20-17 on the afternoon.

MCLA will celebrate senior day on Saturday at 1pm when they host MASCAC foe Worcester State at 1pm.
