Women's Soccer drops 1-0 decision to Albertus Magnus
New Haven, CT- The MCLA Women's Soccer team surrendered a penalty kick goal in the first half and couldn't push across the equalizer as they fell to Albertus Magnus 1-0 this afternoon. Albertus moves to 2-1 on the season, while the Trailblazers fall to 1-2 overall.
After a scoreless opening twenty three minutes, Albertus finally broke through. While pressuring the Trailblazers, MCLA was called for a foul in the box. Amanda Roke would take the ensuing penalty kick and drive it past MCLA net minder Danielle Heinsohn for a 1-0 advantage.
The Trailblazers had chances in the second half as they got off five shots, however Albertus' Maria Case stopped six shots to preserve the shutout victory. MCLA didn't get a shot off in the final nine minutes of action.
Heinsohn stopped six shots for MCLA. Albertus held a slim 14-12 shot advantage on the afternoon and a 5-2 mark in corner kicks.
The Trailblazers will return home on Wednesday when they host Castleton State at 4pm.
