Women's Soccer drops MASCAC tilt at Salem State 2-1

Salem, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team traveled to Salem State this afternoon in a key MASCAC tilt.  The host Vikings scored the game winner in the 60th minute to hold off the Trailblazers, winning 2-1.

With the loss, MCLA is now 4-5 overall, but 0-2 in MASCAC play.  Salem State is now 4-2-1 overall, and leads the conference at 2-0.

Salem State controlled the balance of the game holding a huge 16-1 shot advantage, however it was the Trailblazers who struck first.  In the 29th minute, Kayla Lingel sent a corner kick into the box that Jen Ferrari knocked home for a 1-0 MCLA lead.  It was the only shot MCLA attempted all afternoon.

The Vikings would score the equalizer before halftime when Victoria Clancy scored her second goal of the season with just 56 seconds left in the half.

The second half began similar to the first as Salem held possesion.  They tallied the game winner when Casey Connolly connected off an Allison Celia pass for her third goal of the season and a 2-1 Viking advantage.

MCLA wouldn't muster a shot the remainder of the afternoon and Salem claimed the key league win.

Kathyrn Daly stopped six shots for MCLA in her first action of the season.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Tuesday when they challenge Mount Holyoke.
