Women's Soccer drops non league tilt at Western New England 2-1

Springfield, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team went on the road this afternoon and fell to Western New England University 2-1.  The Trailblazers fall to 5-7 overall while the Golden Bears improve to 8-3-2.

WNE opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Bonnie Bousquet collected her third goal of the season making it 1-0.  The game would remain tied into halftime as neither side held much of an advantage.  The Golden Bears took 6 shots in the opening half while MCLA attempted just 4.

Both sides would get more aggressive in the second half.  MCLA would tie the game in the 54th minute when freshman Natalie Caney netted her team best 12th goal of the season.  Jen Ferrari assisted on the tying goal. 

WNE would answer seven minutes later when leading scorer Brionna Voight tallied in the 61st minute.  The eventual game winner was assisted by Sarah Marois.  MCLA would be kept off the board by WNE keeper Briana Kubik the rest of the way.

WNE would own a 19-11 shot advantage in the contest and a 6-2 mark in corner kicks.

Kathryn Daly started her fourth straight contest and stopped 5 shots for the Trailblazers.

MCLA will look to get back in the thick of the MASCAC race on Saturday when they host Framingham State at 1pm.
