Trailblazers shutout Nichols 1-0 in Women's Soccer

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Natalie Caney scored the only goal in the tenth minute and Danielle Heinsohn made it stand, as the Trailblazers defeated the Nichols College Bison 1-0 this afternoon at Shewcraft Field.

The Bison are now  5-10 overall, while MCLA improves to 6-8.

Caney tallied her team leading 13th goal of the season in the 10th minute, converting a Darien Sullivan cross to give MCLA a 1-0 advantage.  The Trailblazers held a slim 6-5 shot edge in the half, however neither team had tremendous scoring opportunities.

MCLA had a golden chance to stretch the lead in the 53rd minute.  Caney dribbled past a Nichols defender and sent a cross in to the box.  The ball found the foot of Jen Ferrari, whose shot drilled the right post and rebounded in front of the net.  The Bison were able to clear the ball before MCLA could get a foot on it.

The Trailblazers controlled much of the second half earning a decisive 11-4 shot advantage over the final 45 minutes.  MCLA would outshoot Nichols 17-9 for the contest.

The hosts also held a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.
