Caney adds ECAC Player of the Week honors

North Adams, MA- MCLA Women's Soccer freshman Natalie Caney has had an impressive beginning to her collegiate career. After claiming the MASCAC player of the Week and Rookie of the week, she now can add the ECAC Offensive Player of the Week for the New England region to her resume. Caney shares the honor with Bridget Lynch of Lasell College.
Caney recorded her third hat trick of the season on Friday in a pivotal 4-1 win over Bridgewater State. The markers were her 16th of the season, moving her within one of the all time freshman scoring record held by Roberta Smith in 1987.
The honor for Caney is the first since Jess Tietgens collected the honor in 2010.
Caney and the Trailblazers will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Mass. Maritime Academy at 1pm. MCLA will then compete in next week's MASCAC Championship on Tuesday at a site and seed to be determined.
