Women's Soccer falls to Bridgewater in MASCAC Quarterfinals 1-0

Bridgewater, MA- The third seeded Bridgewater State Bears recieved a second half goal from Megan O'Leary while the defense held the MCLA Trailblazers without a shot on goal, as the Bears defeated the sixth seeded Trailblazers 1-0 this afternoon.  With the win, Bridgewater (7-8-2) advances to the MASCAC quarterfinals to face Westfield State on Friday.

MCLA wraps up their season at 8-10 overall.

After a scoreless first half, Bridgewater's O'Leary tallied her first marker of the season in the 62nd minute for a 1-0 lead.  She ripped a shot from 25 yards out the beat MCLA keeper Danielle Heinsohn to the upper right corner. 

Following O'Leary's goal, the story quickly became the Bear defense.  Bridgewater controlled the second half yielding only Jen Ferrari's shot in the 66th minute.  The Bears outshot MCLA 7-1 in the closing half as the Trailblazers never threatened.

Bridgewater held a 9-6 shot advantage after the opening half of play, however neither side could find the net.  Of MCLA's seven shots on the afternoon, none were placed on net.

Heinsohn was solid herself collecting six saves in defeat while Bridgewater's Kerry Condon didn't have to record a save in earning the win.

The game marked the final one played for MCLA's seniors Ashlee Scofield, Sarah Lieneck, Jen Ferrari, Rebecca Hoyt, and Bri Dandurant.
