Three Trailblazers earn All MASCAC honors in Women's Soccer

2013 Women's Soccer All MASCAC Team

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team was well represented when the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) announced their 2013 All MASCAC selections.  Trailblazers Natalie Caney and Jen Ferrari were tabbed first team selections, while Sarah Lieneck earned second team honors.

Kayla Austin of Framingham State was tabbed as the 2013 MASCAC player of the year, while Tucker Reynolds of Framingham was the Coach of the Year.

The honor is the second straight first team selection for Ferrari.  The senior moved to the midfield in 2013, but was still a controlling force for the Trailblazers.  The Westfield, MA native netted four goals and a team best five assists for MCLA.

Caney burst on the scene in a Trailblazer uniform as she netted a hat trick in the opening contest of the season and never looked back.  The explosive freshman from Belchertown, MA was second in the league in goals (17) and third in points (36).  The 17 goals tied the freshman record set by Roberta Smith in 1987.

Lieneck was another Trailblazer who took on a new role in 2013.  The senior from Ashby, MA moved to defense and excelled in her role.  She appeared in all 18 games and was instrumental in MCLA recording five shutouts this season.

The Trailblazers finished their season at 8-10 overall, falling to Bridgewater State in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
